Seahorse and Starfish Platter - Sea Inspired Serving Platter

This is one of our favorite platters which doubles as a charger!  

Our elegantly shaped, gently rounded, three-sided nautical white porcelain seahorse and starfish serving platter has a generously proportioned well area.  This platter is rimmed by a parade of seahorses and a splash of starfish, each of which were cast from dried natural specimens.  

We know that the seahorse is a “social” creature in its natural element, and frolicking with friends on our white seahorse serving platter is about as close to “community” as they’re going to enjoy outside of the sea!

You'll find the porcelain platter's 14" diameter large enough to host a large presentation of any gourmet feature you may bring to the table.  The smooth, natural feel of porcelain has a warmth to it unlike any other material.  

Compare it to ceramic, or dolomite, or stoneware . . . there's a sense of vibrancy in the way that the light reflects off the surface among the details of the seahorse and starfish sculptures that only porcelain allows the artist to achieve, due to the finest granularity of its raw materials.

Since we began, all our studio production has been "green". We promote eco-sustainable studio practices such as 100% Renewable Energy usage (Zero Carbon Footprint), extensive recycling, use of locally produced raw materials, and bio-degradable packaging and shipping materials.

"Heirloom quality" infers there's a next generation to enjoy the artistry that we create, thus we believe in doing our part to help create a renewable environment in a responsible manner.

Each Design Begins with Actual Shell Specimen

Each design begins by casting off an actual shell specimen.  We "improve on Mother Nature" by translating natural shapes to fully functional tableware and serveware designs.  Our designs are sculpted individually by hand, then produced by various hand forming and shaping nuances in each piece.  Then each piece goes through a hand glazing process and firing at temperatures over 2,000 degrees in our kilns.  We've assembled photos and additional production details more fully explained in our Artistry page as well as a brief demonstration of our production techniques in a short video (1:59) of producing our Seahorse Teacup.
